Nagpur Boy Gets Rs 33 Lakh US Job, Loses It When Firm Finds Out He’s 15

Fifteen-year-old Vedant Deokate, hailing from Nagpur, Maharashtra, achieved a notable feat by emerging victorious in a web development competition hosted by a US-based company. During the intense two-day competition, Vedant demonstrated his coding prowess by crafting an impressive 2,066 lines of code, securing the top spot among more than 1,000 participants.

Following his triumph, the company extended a job offer to Vedant, valuing it at ₹33 lakh per annum. However, this jubilant moment turned bittersweet when the HRD team of the New Jersey advertising company withdrew the offer upon learning about Vedant’s age, as reported by The Times Of India.

Despite the setback, the company conveyed an encouraging message to Vedant, urging him not to lose heart. Recognizing his experience, professionalism, and approach, they advised him to complete his education and reach out to them in the future.

Vedant, a self-taught coder, honed his skills on his mother’s relatively slow and outdated laptop. Discovering the coding competition through his mother’s Instagram account, he seized the opportunity to showcase his talent. Having attended over two dozen online tutorials, Vedant’s commitment to coding stood out.

Vedant’s parents, Rajesh and Ashwini Deokate, both assistant professors at an engineering college in Nagpur, were pleasantly surprised by their son’s achievement. The school played a pivotal role in communicating Vedant’s age and other details to the company after the job offer was withdrawn.

With Vedant’s evident aptitude for coding and his competition win, his parents have plans to reward him with a new laptop in recognition of his accomplishments.
